Channel 4 to explore the truth behind alcohol-free booze in one-off doc hosted by Denise Van Outen
With the festive season firmly in the past and “Dry January” shortly coming to an end, the uptake in alcohol free booze has never been trendier and uptake is rising higher than ever before. But with consumers opting to continue their newly-found hangover free life for a healthier lifestyle, are they really getting what they believe they are buying into?
In this one-off documentary “Alcohol-free Booze: Is It Worth It?” produced by Ricochet (1x60’), Denise Van Outen will peel back the lid on some of the most popular alcohol-free beers, wines and spirits on the market and investigating what exactly goes into these drinks. Across this special, Denise will explore how these drinks are made, whether they are actually healthy for us to consume in comparison to our normal tipples and some of our favourite junk food, and ultimately finding out if they are truly worth our hard-earned cash.
From consumer taste tests to compelling scientific research, this eye-opening documentary will uncover the hidden secrets of the industry, the health benefits of swapping alcohol for zero-free plonk - and most importantly telling us whether we should really be swapping our alcohol for alcohol free products or ditching both completely!
Alcohol-free Booze: Is It Worth It? is being produced by Ricochet and executive produced by Rob Butterfield and Sandy Watson. It was commissioned for Channel 4 by Director of Commissioning, Nations & Regions & Head of Lifestyle, Jo Street and Commissioning Editor of Lifestyle, Deborah Dunnett.
