Croatian Academic and Research Libraries Consortium Signs Open Access Agreement with Wiley

Wiley, one of the world’s largest publishers and a trusted leader in research and learning, announced a new one-year open access agreement with the Croatian Academic and Research Libraries Consortium, which consists of 37 institutions, beginning on January 1, 2025. 

This represents Wiley’s first open access agreement in Croatia. It will provide scholars from participating institutions with reading access to Wiley’s journal portfolio and enables researchers to publish open access in Wiley’s complete portfolio of nearly 2,000 hybrid and fully gold open access journals. 

Alisa Martek, Library Advisor at the National and University Library in Zagreb commented that “National and University Library in Zagreb supports open access as one of the most important pillars of the open science initiative. It recognizes the importance for the Croatian academic and scientific community to publish and access research in open access, particularly in the most relevant journals, such as those published by Wiley”. 

This OA agreement with Wiley ensures broader access to high-quality research and enhances the visibility and impact of Croatian scientific output globally. “We are committed to expanding open access publishing routes globally, and it’s a pleasure to embark upon this new partnership to support scholars in Croatia,” said Kathryn Sharples, Wiley VP, Publishing Strategy & Policy. 

Wiley has strong momentum in advancing open access partnerships, having signed more than 100 agreements around the globe.
