Lockheed Martin Delivers 900th THAAD Interceptor

Supplying the U.S. and Allies Combat-Proven Missile Defense

Troy, Ala. – WEBWIRE

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has delivered the 900th Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The THAAD Weapon System is a highly effective, combat-proven defense capability against short, medium and intermediate-range ballistic missile threats, and is the only U.S. system designed to intercept targets outside and inside the atmosphere.

“This milestone comes at a time when global events have highlighted THAAD’s strategic importance in deterring and countering evolving threats,” said Dan Nimblett, vice president of Upper Tier Integrated Air and Missile Defense at Lockheed Martin. “THAAD is crucial to protecting our nation and allies against a range of ballistic missile threats and Lockheed Martin will continue to work with our industry and government partners to deliver its proven capability.”

THAAD’s flight test success rate and combat-proven status continue to drive demand and demonstrates Lockheed Martin’s global commitment to 21st Century Security®. The THAAD Weapon System has a 100% flight test intercept record and has successfully integrated with the PAC-3 MSE interceptor. Integration with other systems is a key part of building a layered, networked architecture needed in today’s threat environment.
