Long-Time Bible Teacher Barbara Sturm Set to Exhibit Solid, Scriptural Guide to Jesus’ Second Coming at Upcoming Book Events in California

Since she was very young, Barbara C. Sturm had a passion for teaching the Bible. This passion would continue to burn bright as she grew up and became a teacher of Scripture across various grade levels as well as an educator for adult women. Through the course of it all though, she also developed another passion for learning more about the Second Coming, and how to best read the Bible’s prophecies. It is for that reason that she published “Maranatha” and has recently arranged for its exhibition.

“If you truly wish to know the future of mankind, then this guide offers a glimpse while staying faithfully within the bounds of Scripture.”

Since she was 14, Barbara C. Sturm has had a love for reading the Bible and was eager to start teaching it to the rest of the world. When she turned twenty, she eventually got her first chance, teaching the Bible to first-graders at Sunday school.

Yet, while the Bible covered a wide variety of topics, the one she was most eager to explore was the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Her study began with just a few notes. Yet, in time, those notes multiplied and she realized that she may have very well written a book that could guide others in their study of Jesus’ glorious return.

Her book’s title is “Maranatha: Our Lord Will Come!,” and she already arranged for a fresh round of promotional work for it in the coming year. These even include an exhibit at the Book Confab (L.A.), organized by the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet, and the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2025.

In “Maranatha,” Sturm strives to use her knowledge of Scripture to offer a more balanced view on events like the Rapture, Tribulation, and other topics related to the End Times. She hopes to offer something that emphasizes more positive perspectives as well as further emphasis on staying within the bounds of Scripture amidst all the speculation of what’s to come.

“Maranatha” will be displayed at the Book Confab (L.A.). ReadersMagnet will also display the book at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2025. The Festival will run from April 26-27, 2025, at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA.

Author Bio

Barbara C. Sturm was born in a small fishing village called Southport, North Carolina. At the age of four, her dad became an engineer on a dredge boat. It was then that the family started traveling with him from Virginia, Georgia, and Florida, and then back to North Carolina. At the age of nine, they returned to Southport to live. She also grew up in church, and at the age of 14, she received Jesus as her Lord and Savior. It was at this time that the Lord gave her a passion for teaching the Bible, but she was too young at that time and needed more education in the Bible. Around that time, God also gave her a great love for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

When she graduated from high school, she went to Alexandria, Virginia, to study computer programming at Virginia Computer College, where she met her husband, Donald Sturm. At the age of 20, they were married. They have now been married for 52 years.

After she was married, she started teaching little first graders the Bible in Sunday school and first through sixth grade in children’s chapel. But she believed God was calling her to teach teenagers. So, she moved up to middle school and then senior high. But then, after senior high, the Lord wanted her to start teaching adult women.

Through the years, she studied the Bible with emphasis on the second coming of Jesus Christ. She kept writing notes and giving them to her teen girls. They eventually told her to write a book and stop giving them so many notes.

After finishing computer school, she and her husband started working at the Census Bureau. She worked there for nine and a half years before having to retire on disability because she needed back surgery. She has scoliosis, which is a curvature of the spine, and she was going to have to be in a body cast for 12 months. It was then that the Lord told her to begin putting all her many notes into a book. That is when “Maranatha” was born. In many ways, it was her life’s work. She started taking notes as a young teenager, and by the age of 27, the Lord told her to start writing a book. Now, at the age of 73, it has been a lifelong study.
