Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Issaquah

Author Marissa Meyer to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 9AM on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025

Issaquah, WA – WEBWIRE

Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its Issaquah, WA bookstore on Wednesday, February 12th. The new Barnes & Noble is located in Issaquah Commons (775 NW Gilman Blvd, Issaquah, WA 98027), in the space formerly occupied by Bed, Bath & Beyond, next to Sephora and near REI.

The previous Issaquah Barnes & Noble store closed in May of 2020 and the brand-new bookstore will officially open at 9AM PST on Wednesday the 12th. Author Marissa Meyer will be cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books, including her latest release, The Happy Writer, and the New York Times best-selling young adult series The Lunar Chronicles.

The bookstore showcases the highly lauded design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, featuring all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller. The bookstore will also house an updated B&N Café.

“We are opening new Barnes & Noble bookstores at a pace unseen in decades, and we do so with a focus on returning to communities we once served,” said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble. “We are so pleased to be back in Issaquah, and our booksellers are very excited to welcome customers into this stunning new bookstore.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.

The Issaquah location is one of five new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in February, alongside new stores in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.

“The readers here in Issaquah have been clamoring for our return,” said Store Manager Charlene Lee, Barnes & Noble Bookseller of 22 years. “I’m so happy to be part of the team bringing Barnes & Noble back to this book-thirsty community!”
