Jesse Newberry joins HNTB as a principal digital solutions technologist

HNTB has announced Jesse Newberry has joined the firm as a principal digital solutions technologist. Newberry will be based in HNTB’s Boston office and will work closely with the firm’s national digital infrastructure solutions group, which supports the integration of a comprehensive suite of digital services across the infrastructure sector.

In this role, Newberry will be responsible for leading technology projects, developing integrated solutions and consulting on various technology services for the firm’s clients. Newberry will also work closely with transportation agencies to assist them in assessing new emerging technologies.

His experience in performing digital transformations is extensive: from digitizing paper processes and workflows, to pivoting the workforce to hybrid work environments during the COVID-19 pandemic, and more recently bringing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to the public sector. We are looking forward to his leadership around emerging technologies to support our clients across the country.”

Newberry has broad expertise in the information technology (IT) sector including managing and implementing cloud-based tools, deploying collaborative software solutions and developing cybersecurity best practices. At HNTB, he will play a key role in advancing AI-driven solutions that enhance digital project delivery, optimize infrastructure performance and help transportation agencies make data-informed decisions.

Newberry brings experience from his most recent role as a Business Engagement Manager at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), where he supported all four MassDOT Divisions: Highway, Rail & Transit, Aeronautics and the Registry of Motor Vehicles. In this capacity, he collaborated regularly with MassDOT senior leadership to align organizational priorities, including bridging business needs with technology solutions. Prior to this, he served MassDOT as the IT Customer Engagement Manager, focusing on the Highway Division within the agency where he was as a liaison between business operations and technological initiatives.

In addition to his industry experience, Newberry serves on the Standing Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing Applications for the Transportation Research Board and is the Chairperson for the upcoming TRB Conference on Data and AI for Transportation Advancement. He also serves as an Associate Member of the Town of Wayland, MA Planning Board, focusing on town land use and development matters.
