Jalisha Dawn Harris’ Motivational Christian Memoir of Breaking Generational Curses Set for Exhibit at L.A. Times Festival of Books 2025
The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is a popular destination for many independent authors who simply want to share their stories for causes bigger than themselves. For Jalisha Dawn Harris, that cause is to both share her faith while also inspiring those who had grown up with the struggles of living in foster care and suffering generational bondage. Her book, “A Cry for Glory,” is scheduled for exhibit at the Festival.
“There was laughter, and emotional remembrance... recollections of family traits, that’s triggered deep rooted memories. There was also sadness, and anger. What a Rollercoaster! Truely this read was a full coarse meal, simply phenomenal. Don’t let this be a one and done cousin Jalisha... true, raw, storytelling in rare form. Projecting love, humility, strength, and perseverance. A great read.” – Phil D.
Many of the works to be exhibited at the upcoming 2025 L.A. Times Festival of Books come from independent authors whose books are in support of bigger goals. These include not only those self-publishing for business but also many memoir writers and religious authors whose books contain powerful testimony.
Jalisha Dawn Harris is one of these newest faith-based writers and the soul behind the book “A Cry for Glory.” It is her memoir that talks about her life as a product of the American foster care system as well as her deep investigation into the generational roots of her spiritual problems.
Born in Oakland, California, Harris was the youngest of seven siblings born into a life of poverty and hardship. Much of her young years have been spent on the long climb up to stability, starting with a vocational program for dentistry, coming out as the top of her class, and then landing her first job.
Despite this, it still wasn’t enough for her as she then pursued a rather unfulfilling corporate career before having a powerful religious experience and finally discovering what she wanted to do.
Today, her renewed faith has led her to become a minister and founding a non-profit to help many wayward, foster care youth via mentorship, mental health services, and more. Hence, her book adds to the many voices speaking on behalf of disenfranchised young people in America, helping them get to the generational roots of their problems and how these can then open the door to redemption.
Visitors to the 2025 L.A. Times Festival of Books can find “A Cry for Glory” by Jalisha Dawn Harris on display at the exhibit of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company, at booth no. 225. The festival will be held at the University of Southern California on April 26-27, 2025. The book is also available on Amazon.
