“I really enjoyed this book. Not coming from America and often marvelling at how unattainable the ’American dream’ is to most of the population, I found this book moving and fascinating in equal measure. It’s the story of someone from a very underprivileged background overcoming obstacle after obstacle and doing it with real grit and determination.” – The Bookie Monster

Today, more entrepreneurs are self-publishing books to share their success stories and market their passion projects. The upcoming Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2005 is expected to have many such memoirs in its exhibits, making it a popular destination for networkers as well as those who simply want inspiration.

So for limousine party queen Shelly Castle, it is as good an opportunity as any to continue presenting her best self and her passion for her business. Her memoir, “Spread the Word I’m making it Happen,” is already set to exhibit at the Festival, all as part of her determined plan to show how much her faith and her determination drive her work.

Born in Houston, Texas, Castle’s family experienced a good deal of hardship, with most members of her family suffering from various mental health challenges growing up. In her adult years, she became a single mom and struggled to support herself and her children.

It was at this point that she discovered the ridesharing life, and took a great liking to it. She started as a nighttime party driver, discovering creative ways to entertain her passengers, and eventually realized she had a business on her hands.

Still, things were far from smooth sailing, with the pandemic hitting her business the worst and putting her on the brink of collapse. In her memoir, she credits God for intervening and giving her the strength to keep it up when there was so much at stake.

Those visiting the 2025 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books can find Shelly Castle’s “Spread the Word I’m making it Happen” at the exhibit of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company, at booth #225. The festival will be held on April 26-27, 2025, at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Get a copy today on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Author’s Biography:
It all started inside 4 walls on May 17, 1979 at Jefferson Davis hospital. Shelly was born there and was the middle sibling! She had an older sister and a younger sister. She and her family growing up were very poor and lived in a rundown house. They didn’t have food, lights, water, gas, plumbing, or anything. They loved their hard life, but they learned to love a lot and to love each other. Her book tells a story and deeper details.

She was a single mom and worked two to three jobs to raise her son on her own. She lost all three jobs during COVID-19 and didn’t want to be here anymore. She asked God to take her out of this world and committed God to do it. She was done. She said she had no reason to live.

One of the jobs she lost was Uber and Lyft. She was a nighttime party rideshare driver and had a great time. She loved what she did and had fun doing it. She would pick up people, keep the city safe, and create unforgettable experiences at the same time. She loved changing lives and making a difference in the community.

When all that was taken away from her, it was like her whole world had ended. She had loved being a rideshare driver more than her other two jobs, and it had become a passion of hers. So when she committed God to take her out of this world, she finally said: “Jesus, either take me out of this world or give me a reason and passion to live.”

Well, He gave her that reason and passion to live. He said, "Shelly Castle, I’m not done with you yet, and you still have a lot more to do and a lot more people to inspire" So she inspired the universe. He told her to start her own company, and she did it. She started with literally nothing. She began with $700 and opened up her LLC.

She had been running it for three years on her own until last Friday. She had been struggling, on her hands and knees, praying to God for mercy and strength, and asking for help. All she needed was that energy and money to make it happen. She had everything else she needed—she had the drive, determination, go-getterness, ambition, strength, and so much more.

She believed she was the strongest entrepreneur and author out there. Just as she thought she was going to lose it all, God sent her help. God sent her books into manifestation, starting with her first book.

Now she has something to talk about and will soon start her second book. God sent her a business partner—one like no other. He has truly been a blessing from the Lord and has been doing everything for her. He is turning her life around completely. She is going from a business owner in poverty and on the verge of shutting down to something greater.

Shelly says: “To a business owner that is going to have riches and abundance for life. He has all the energy and said he’s gonna make me a rich woman. He admires everything about me. God is so good. Just remember, ‘you could do all things through Christ who strengthens you.” Philippians 413.”
