Retired Firefighter Releases “Captain Conrad’s Safety Tips!” — A Practical and Engaging Guide to Teaching Children About Safety

Retired San Antonio firefighter and paramedic Conrad M. Gonzales has spent over 40 years educating children and adults on life-saving safety measures. His new book, “Captain Conrad’s Safety Tips!,” is a collection of poems designed to teach essential safety lessons in a fun and engaging way.

Between 1994 and 2003, Gonzales wrote these safety poems and songs for his own children, covering a wide range of topics, including fire safety, bicycle and train safety, and kitchen hazards. Now published as a book, these poems serve as an educational resource for teachers, parents, grandparents, and first responders to help children understand and remember essential safety rules.

Each poem delivers a unique message aimed at preventing accidents and promoting awareness. The book encourages proactive safety habits, such as avoiding matches and cigarette lighters or installing smoke alarms. By reinforcing these lessons at an early age, “Captain Conrad’s Safety Tips!” provides children with the knowledge they need to stay safe while also reducing the risks faced by first responders.

Gonzales is also a musician, performer, and songwriter. His passion for safety education extends beyond the book, as he shares safety messages through music on his social media platform, Captain Conrad, the Singing Firefighter.
