Hej San Francisco bay neighbors, IKEA U.S. opens a new location in Colma
New Location Provides Increased Customer Convenience and Accessibility
IKEA U.S. is excited to announce the new IKEA Colma Plan & order point with Pick-up grand opening on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. PST featuring exclusive tours, giveaways, food sampling and more. IKEA Colma, located in the 280 Metro Center, is the fourth IKEA location in the San Francisco Bay area.
The IKEA Colma Plan & order point with Pick-up is one of many new-format stores that are part of the growth strategy for IKEA U.S.—increasing accessibility to the brand and ensuring there are more ways to meet customers where they are and how they like to shop. It is different from the traditional large-format IKEA stores as it gives customers the opportunity to meet with the IKEA store team to plan and order home furnishing solutions that require a bit more help – such as kitchen, bathroom and closet storage systems.
“We are excited to continue to provide another unit to shop IKEA!” said Javier Quiñones, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer, IKEA U.S. “The new location highlights our efforts to bring IKEA closer to the many people and make it easier and more affordable to access our home furnishing products and solutions.”
While customers are unable to take products home on the day of their visit, IKEA co-workers can arrange delivery or schedule orders to be picked up from the convenient, onsite Pick-up location. With the addition of an IKEA Pick-up point, customers will be able to collect their purchases when and where it is convenient for them, supporting purchases made at the Plan & order point as well as online at IKEA.com/us. Online shoppers will have the option to pick-up qualifying orders by selecting the new Colma location as their preferred pick-up spot at checkout.
“I’m beyond excited to welcome customers at IKEA Colma where you can get expert home planning support right in your own neighborhood. IKEA Colma Plan and order point with Pick-up brings our signature styles closer to the community—making it more accessible, more convenient, and of course, more affordable,” said Arda Akalin, Market Manager, IKEA San Francisco.
IKEA has been in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 25 years, since opening the first store in Emeryville in 2000. By introducing IKEA Colma, more customers in the Bay Area now have access to affordability and convenience. However, for their beloved meatballs and other IKEA Food offerings, customers will still need to make a trip to IKEA San Franciso or IKEA Emeryville.
The new IKEA Colma Plan & order point with Pick-up is located at 35 Colma Blvd, Colma, California.
IKEA is dedicated to enhancing the customer experience with a variety of customer meeting points and locations that complement each other and meet people’s different needs. In addition to opening new Plan & order points in city centers, IKEA U.S. has made significant investments to enhance its e-commerce experience and service offerings, including new IKEA Family benefits, lower priced shipping and delivery, Click & collect, and TaskRabbit assembly services.
