Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Grand Rapids
Author Erin Craig to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025
Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its Grand Rapids, MI bookstore on Wednesday, March 26th. The Barnes & Noble is located in a brand-new space at The Village at Knapp’s Crossing (2236 E. Beltline Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525), near the Goldfish Swim School.
The new Barnes & Noble will officially open to the public at 10AM EST on Wednesday the 26th, with bestselling author Erin Craig cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books, including The Thirteenth Child and House of Roots and Ruin.
The bookstore showcases the highly lauded design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, featuring all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller. The bookstore will also house an updated B&N Café.
“We are delighted to be opening this brand-new Barnes & Noble, our second in Grand Rapids,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “When we first announced this new bookstore we received an outpouring of enthusiasm from our local customers, and our booksellers cannot wait to welcome them into their new Grand Rapids Barnes & Noble.”
Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.
The Grand Rapids location is one of four new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in March, alongside new stores in Florida, New York, and Virginia. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.
“I am very excited to open a new Barnes & Noble bookstore,” said Store Manager Meghann Bromley, longtime Barnes & Noble Bookseller. “I can’t wait to bring my love of books and community to the city that I call home.”
