Eddy Guerrier’s Revolutionary Guide to Learning Algebra in the 21st Century Now Set to Exhibit at L.A. Times Festival of Books
For a growing number of college algebra teachers, the subject suffers from an increasingly outdated model that educates in a piecemeal manner. But for Eddy Guerrier, it’s arguably worse than that, and it is why he published “College Algebra In The Digital Age.” He has already arranged to exhibit the guide at the upcoming L.A. Times Festival of Books. In doing so, he hopes to contribute a long-needed update to the teaching of mathematics.
Eddy Guerrier’s algebra guidebook College Algebra In The Digital Age: Learning Algebra In the Modern Era will be displayed at the 2025 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.
Despite advances in digital technology, a growing number of math teachers are questioning the piecemeal-style approach that is used even all the way up to the college level.
Among these concerned educators is Eddy Guerrier. For him, the issue may even be a net negative as students end up lagging and stalling in their struggle to put concepts together.
As a solution, he published “College Algebra In The Digital Age: Learning Algebra In the Modern Era.” It is a book that applies his own innovative approach to teaching by helping readers better transition from the fundamentals of arithmetic to algebraic expressions. Guerrier has recently begun to showcase the book and plans to improve its distribution for a number of struggling students worldwide. He has even arranged to exhibit it at a booth during the upcoming Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2025, which will be held on April 26-27, 2025, at the University of Southern California (USC) campus in Los Angeles, California.
“College Algebra In The Digital Age” draws upon his own experience in not just mathematics but also computer science. Even today, the subject of algebra is taught at a pace that affords an uneasy transition to its application in other fields and sciences.
Aside from the basics of number systems, decompositions, and simplifications, Guerrier also shares interesting bits about the history and development of algebra, including advances in the field that are being explored today.
Those who would like to see “College Algebra In The Digital Age: Learning Algebra In the Modern Era” for themselves can locate its display at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at the 2025 L.A. Times Festival of Books at booth #225. Get a copy on Amazon. Learn more about Eddy Guerrier and his work at https://www.edguerrier.net/.

Author Bio
Eddy Guerrier migrated from Haiti to Canada after graduating from high school. Throughout his secondary school years, he had a knack for solving equations in Algebra and Trigonometry.
He obtained bachelor’s degrees in Psychology from the University of Montreal and Computer Sciences from Concordia University in Montreal. In Computer Sciences, he chose the option General Sciences and extended his knowledge of mathematics with courses such as Numerical Analysis, Advanced Calculus, Advanced Statistics, and Linear Algebra.
His first written book was a satirical essay in French/Creole about politics in his country of origin. As he moves toward updating his website, he might work on a new edition or even a new title for that book. He also plans to make new translations in Creole and Spanish for the book on Algebra currently written in French and English.
“College Algebra In The Digital Age” represents his personal recognition that teaching and learning Algebra could become more cohesive by managing the transition, continuity, and flow of topics introduction. A key aspect of this approach is to introduce jointly related parts of the subject, such as exponents, radicals, and logarithms, to promote their similarities. Moreover, a greater emphasis on the historical perspective of research done in the field contributes to highlighting the progression or evolution of algebraic science through discoveries of concepts and solutions made over time. In short, this work is an attempt to demarcate the contribution of Algebra in the global scheme of modern technology development by straying from the traditional and piecemeal model.
