Leisa Braband’s Second Book in Down-to-Earth Pet Sitter Series Earns Recommendations from Reviewers

Leisa Braband has worn many hats throughout her career. But out of the many jobs she’s held, the one she has had the fondest memories of is as a pet sitter. Inspired by her time with all sorts of furry friends, she decided to reimagine her experience as a children’s book story titled The Pet Nanny. Now, she has released a sequel to the first book in the series and at least a couple of reviews already find it relatable enough to recommend to child audiences.

“Young readers will easily relate to Libby and her preteen concerns.” – BlueInk Review

Like a growing number of new authors, Leisa Braband is well into her sixties and has found writing to be a comfortable way to retell her many life experiences with a big audience.

Unlike a lot of authors, however, she has been one who can easily relate to very young minds who don’t quite know what to do when they grow up.

In fact, Braband herself has worked at a number of jobs, from a non-profit association director and all the way to being just a simple donut maker. Yet out of the many hats she has worn, the one that she had the most fondness for was pet sitting.

And thus, this love for animals and the memories she’s had with them form the premise of her own children’s book series. Titled “The Pet Nanny,” it reframes experiences from Braband’s pet-sitting misadventures through the eyes of a young, pre-teen protagonist named Libby. The series blends together a number of other themes such as being a child of divorce, the challenges of living in a new city as well as finding new friends.

Recently, she published a sequel to the book, “The Pet Nanny 2: Libby Goes To A New School.” This time it features Libby’s struggles to fit into school while still working to keep up her new pet-sitting business.

A few reviewers have already given it props for having the same spunky spirit as the first book. Kirkus Reviews said the book was “upbeat and easygoing” while BlueInk Review commended its relatability for young audiences.

Like the first book, Braband is set to start some promotional work for this sequel in the coming year. Adding “children’s book author” to her list of achievements has certainly been enjoyable for her thus far, and she continues to be open about continuing.

Author Bio
Leisa Braband is in her mid-sixties and still doesn’t know what she wants to be when she grows up. She’s been a music teacher, dishwasher, donut maker, tutor, administrative assistant, legal secretary, nonprofit association executive, realtor, wine seller, political campaign worker, event coordinator, dry cleaner clerk, and pet sitter. Of all these career choices, pet sitter is her favorite (mainly because her clients couldn’t talk back). What’s next? she ponders. Hmm…. Maybe an author?
