Moeve launches the first open call for its Moeve light up startup program

• This is an acceleration process that lasts one-year, in which Moeve professionals and startups collaborate to develop pilots on a real scale
• The company is looking for startups focused on deep science, clean tech, and deep tech that can address the challenges it faces in its transformation towards the energy transition: green molecules and sustainable mobility and chemical

Moeve has launched the first open call for its corporate startup accelerator to boost its scaling, development, and future application in innovative energy transition businesses. The company is seeking to invigorate the economic and innovative fabric of the industry through Moeve light up, scaling emerging projects in the deep science, clean tech, and deep tech sectors, which are mainly focused on scientific fields.

With this accelerator, Moeve is launching its first open innovation platform, which collects applications through a freely accessible web form. Moeve light up will make the technological capabilities and innovation spaces of the energy company available to startups and partners to drive disruptive technologies and new businesses in their transformation process and advance in the energy transition. This open innovation model aims to position Moeve at the center of the innovation ecosystem in the energy sector.

The scouting stage for applications will be open until mid-May. Moeve will be in charge of shortlisting those with the greatest potential for Selection day, which will be a day of demonstrations and case studies at the beginning of June. The company will select the startups that will move on to the acceleration phase, where they will work with Moeve experts to undertake pilot projects.

The challenges presented to the startup ecosystem are aligned with its innovative green hydrogen and refuse-derived fuel businesses, e-fuels, the search for new sustainable raw materials, digital inclusion and innovation, efficient water management throughout its life cycles, cutting-edge sustainable mobility solutions, and the customer experience in transforming its service stations.

Over 2026, after completing the acceleration stage, the startups will have to present the results of their pilots at the Demo day to experts from Moeve and the innovation sector. The projects with the greatest potential, in line with the company’s Positive Motion strategy, will continue to receive financial and structural support from the energy company through its Innovation Center to achieve their goal of implementation in the Energy Parks of the energy company in Palos de la Frontera, Huelva, and San Roque, Cádiz, at its chemical plants or at its service stations.

Immaterial, a success story

Moeve’s commitment to innovation is exemplified by Immaterial, which is positioned as a reference for projects that are ultimately carried out through the new startup accelerator Moeve light up. This company, founded at the University of Cambridge by Spanish scientist David Fairén-Jiménez, focuses on producing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) that have multiple applications, such as capturing and storing different molecules. Moeve is promoting this project through its Innovation Center, with a view to scaling it up and using MOFs in the future to store green hydrogen in its Energy Parks.

Over the last few years, Moeve has prioritized innovation as a key tool, having analyzed nearly 1,000 startups to establish an active ecosystem of partnerships that will help the energy company in its aspiration to lead the energy transition and its ambition to facilitate a sustainable future.
