Enel illuminates the Italy pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka
The World Expo in Osaka has begun and Italy is present with its Pavilion, taking to Japan the best in Italian know-how, tradition and innovation, under the theme “Art Regenerates Life”.
Art, science, culture, sustainability and scientific research: these are the characteristics of a pavilion made of wood, produced by the architectural studio MCA-Mario Cucinella Architects.
Enel, which is also contributing to making this mission a reality through its know-how and significant commitment to sustainability, is lighting the Italian Pavilion with cutting-edge solutions, making specific reference to the energy transition as well as the integration between buildings and the environment.
“The Expo is an internationally renowned event as well as a unique opportunity to tell the story of Italian excellence and support the country system, while encouraging dialogue between global, institutional and business stakeholders. In this context, Enel is proud to contribute by lighting the Italy Pavilion, thanks to its proven experience in the application of energy-efficient solutions in settings of great artistic and architectural value,” stated Nicolò Mardegan, Director of External Relations at Enel. “The project that we developed in Osaka specifically represents our interpretation of the theme ‘Art regenerates life’, with a true Made in Italy vision that combines technological innovation, sustainability and artistic mastery.”
“We are lighting the Italy Pavilion, a showcase that enables us to bring the best of Italian industry to Japan,” noted Italian Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka. “We believe in the synergies and strength of public-private partnerships to succeed in the challenges of internationalization together and to facilitate access for our companies to strategic markets like Japan.”
For the Italy Pavilion, Enel has created a lighting system dedicated to the Theatre at the entrance and to the Italian Garden on the Pavilion’s roof.
The Theatre lighting layout leverages on the architecture using both white and multi-colored dynamic lighting thanks to 40 high-performance LED fixtures integrated into a digital control system. This technology enables the creation of lighting designs that can be customized according to the needs of and events at the Pavilion.
In the Italian Garden, 60 projectors and approximately 800 meters of LED light strips give visitors the opportunity to use and appreciate the space, with visually impactful lighting effects. The installation highlights the vegetation, walking routes and artistic elements on display, resulting in an evocative and engaging atmosphere.
The Italy Pavilion officially opened its doors to the public on April 13th at 18:00 Japanese time (11:00 CET). The theme of the World Expo 2025 Osaka is Designing Future Society for Our Lives, a mission Enel has been contributing to for years with its innovations and technologies.
