Selection of EPC contractor for building of Goliat FPSO still open

WEBWIRE

The operator of the Goliat field in the Barents Sea, Eni, today announced the selection of concept for the Goliat FPSO.

We respect that Eni has chosen a different concept than the one we presented in our offer. We are satisfied that Eni today commented that they have not awarded the contract for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the project, which the tender originally implied. The choice of contractor remains open, which means that we can still win the job to build the FPSO" says Jannik Lindbaek jr, SVP for corporate communications at Aker Solutions.

Eni will open a new tendering process. The competition will then be for the EPC-contract on the building of the Goliat FPSO, based on the concept selected today.

"Aker Solutions has in the past time and again demonstrated the competence, capacity and execution capabilities for delivery of large, complex projects. We are in a good position to present a competitive delivery model and tender for this EPC contract" says Lindbaek.

The construction of the hull will most likely be undertaken outside Norway.

"We will strive to secure that the construction of the topside and processing modules, as well as the hook up can be done in Norway. This would mean that a substantial amount of the value creation in relation to the EPC contract can take place in Norway" Lindbaek ends.
