WEBWIRE

Pittsburgh, PA - NOVA Chemicals Corporation (NYSE, TSX: NCX) today announced the commercial availability of the company’s first ULTRA LOW® pentane expandable polystyrene (EPS) product. With average pentane levels of 3.75% by weight, ULTRA LOW M77BLV offers emissions-constrained molders the ability to meet or exceed ASTM construction and geofoam industry standards for molding density and physical performance.

“Our ULTRA LOW EPS technology delivers pentane levels below 4%, enabling business growth for EPS molders who are constrained by increasingly rigorous emissions standards,” said Rick Salvador, Vice President, Styrenics. “NOVA Chemicals intends to help our customers grow their business by continuing to invest in our portfolio of EPS products for the construction, packaging, produce box and beverage cup markets.”

Potential applications for ULTRA LOW M77BLV include geofoam, roofing, insulation and structural insulated panels (SIPs). Demand for high-performing ULTRA LOW resins is anticipated to grow as converters work with evolving emissions standards. NOVA Chemicals anticipates further additions to the ULTRA LOW product line in the near future.
