C&S Wholesale Grocers Expects Quick ROI with New Data Warehouse Technology from Teradata

Cost saving/cost avoidance identified by automating procurement decision-support process on Teradata

March 28, 2006, KEENE, N.H. – C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc., the second largest supermarket wholesaler in the country, is implementing a comprehensive data warehouse solution from Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), to enhance the operations of the company’s procurement and retail units.

Anything we can do to make the procurement process more effective helps us make better decisions that benefit our retail partners, their customers and our entire organization,” said Joe Caracappa, senior vice president and chief information officer of C&S Wholesale Grocers.

“Teradata has the expertise and experience we need to make a smooth, low-risk transition to their technology, and we fully expect to be showing positive results soon after the system is fully implemented,” Caracappa said.

C&S and Teradata are implementing the new technology with the assistance of Teradata partner IBM IIS/Ascential, which is providing guidance to integrate data from the wholesaler’s previous information systems.
