Georgia Motor Vehicle Kiosk Program continues Kroger expansion
Convenient kiosks allow residents to renew car registrations while grocery shopping
The Georgia MVD Tag Kiosk program now has 40 kiosks installed after recently adding ten more in Atlanta area Kroger grocery stores. Installing kiosks in Kroger stores has proven to be widely popular with Georgia residents, as 32 of the kiosks are installed in Georgia Kroger stores.
Georgia MVD Director Georgia Steele has widely embraced providing more convenient technology for Georgia citizens to perform motor vehicle services. During the past three years, over 500,000 vehicle registrations have been performed on Georgia Tag Kiosks. Most of the usage is due to placing kiosks in more conveniently located Kroger stores, allowing citizens 24/7 access to renew Georgia vehicle registrations.
DeKalb County citizens are some of the biggest users of the kiosks, processing over 52,700 vehicle renewals on Georgia Tag Kiosks last year. Due to this success, DeKalb County is scheduling grand opening events on April 9th for two more kiosks at the following locations:
- 11:00 a.m. at Kroger #210 • 4498 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody (Atlanta)
- 2:00 p.m. at Kroger #475 • 4919 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur (Atlanta)
DeKalb County Tax Commissioner Irvin Johnson states “Don’t like long lines? Then renew your tags early and save time! Renew online, at our five Kiosks locations, or mail in for same week turn around service!”

Georgia Tag Kiosks are provided by Intellectual Technology, Inc. and allow county residents to conduct their vehicle registration renewals in person, on their own schedule. By placing the self-service kiosks in convenient Kroger locations that are open extended hours, Georgia vehicle owners can renew vehicle registrations while shopping for groceries.
The kiosks are as easy to use as an ATM, and registrations can be renewed in as little as 2 minutes. Simply scan your Georgia driver’s license, pay with a credit card, and print your Georgia registration card and license plate decal. Georgia Tag Kiosks accept payment by credit and debit cards with instructions available in English or Spanish.
The Georgia Tag Kiosks are located at select Kroger stores and county tag offices. There now 40 kiosks installed and 27 Georgia counties participating in this program. Residents of a participating county can use any kiosk, even those in located in other counties.
