Where to Watch

Fans will be able to watch the match live in English on FS1 and in Spanish on TUDN.

Previous Match

Inter Miami will play in Monterrey after earning a 2-2 draw at home against the Colorado Rapids in a highly contested matchup over the weekend in what.was the first-ever meeting between the sides. Captain Lionel Messi returned and scored the team’s first goal on the night, while Academy product and MLS SuperDraft pick Leo Afonso also scored to register his first goal for the Club’s First Team, in what was his first start for the team. Defenders Franco Negri and David Ruiz registered their first assists of the season in the matchup as well, with Negri playing his first match for the team since an injury sidelined him in June 2023.

MLS Team of the Matchday Honors for Ruiz and Messi

Homegrown player David Ruiz and Messi were named to the Team of the Matchday for Matchday 8 of the 2024 MLS regular season. The pair earned Team of the Matchday honors for their contributions in Inter Miami’s 2-2 draw against the Colorado Rapids over the weekend, with Ruiz dishing out an assist and Messi scoring a goal to help the team secure the result.

First Leg

Inter Miami will be looking to turn the aggregate score around after falling 1-2 to Monterrey at Chase Stadium in a hard fought first leg of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinals on April 3. Defender Tomás Avilés scored the team’s goal in the game

Posible Scenarios

If the aggregate score (the addition of the result of both legs) after the two matches remains tied, away goals will work as the first tiebreaker. This means that since Inter Miami fell 1-2 in the first leg with two away goals being scored by Monterrey, the team would need to win by at least two goals on Wednesday to win the series.

In the event of a 0-1 victory for Inter Miami, Monterrey would continue to qualify for the semifinals due to the away goal rule. A 1-2 score would tie the aggregate and the teams would have to play extra time, while a 2-3 win or any higher score with a one-goal advantage would see Inter Miami win the series.

If Inter Miami ties or loses with any scoreline, the team would get knocked out.

What’s Next?

If Inter Miami clinches the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals berth, the team would face the winner of the series between LIGA MX side Tigres UANL and 2023 MLS Cup Champions Columbus Crew.

Scouting C.F. Monterrey

The Mexican side will host Inter Miami after falling 1-2 on the road to Cruz Azul in LIGA MX Clausura action in the team’s past match on April 6.

To recap, Monterrey earned their place in the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup after knocking out FC Cincinnati with an 3-1 aggregate scoreline in the round of 16. Los Rayados first won 0-1 on the road in the first leg on March 7, before winning 2-1 at home on March 14 to close out the series. Prior to that, Monterrey had eliminated Guatemalan team Comunicaciones in the first round of the competition by winning the series with a 7-1 aggregate scoreline.
