The method most commonly performed by Dr. Stern for his hair transplant patients in Seattle and Bellevue is called F-U-T or follicular unit transplantation. F-U-T is commonly known as the “strip” harvesting method. The F-U-T method is the most commonly performed hair transplant procedure and provides the greatest number of follicular grafts per hair transplant session.
Dr. Stern also offers F-U-E or follicular unit extraction. A patient and Dr. Stern may agree that F-U-E is a better method if that patient likes to wear their hair short, in a “buzz” cut, as the F-U-E method alleviates the potential for a visible scar. The F-U-E hair transplant method also offers a shorter recovery time; and may be beneficial for scar revision or reconstructive purposes.

About Dr. Stern:
Dr. Fredric Stern founded the Stern Center for Aesthetic Surgery in 1997.
Following his education at Columbia University Medical School, Dr. Stern earned his Board Certification in Ophthalmology at the University of Washington, and underwent extensive additional training in ophthalmic plastic and laser facial surgery.
In 1987, he joined Virginia Mason Medical Center, heading the Department of Ophthalmology and serving as Director of the Oculoplastic Surgery Division for 10 years. While at Virginia Mason, Dr. Stern performed an extensive number of cosmetic laser procedures.
