Euphonix System 5-MC Integrated DAW Controller takes off in Europe
Integrated DAW controller gains favor with leading broadcast, post and music facilities
Palo Alto, CA – Aug 28th, 2006 - Euphonix, recognized worldwide as one of the the leading manufacturers of large format digital audio consoles and innovative mixing solutions for audio post, broadcast, and music recording, finds itself in the enviable position of recording significant breakthrough European sales for its System 5-MC Integrated DAW (digital audio workstation) Controller.
Based upon the Euphonix System 5 control surface design, the System 5-MC integrates tightly via the EuCon Ethernet protocol with leading DAW applications including Digidesign’s Pro Tools, Steinberg’s Nuendo, Merging Technologies’ Pyramix, Apple Computer’s Logic Pro, plus a host of other leading applications. By combining the tactile interface of a large format digital audio console with the flexibility of the company’s MC Media Application Controller, audio professionals are discovering new and unique ways to interface with their favorite recoding and editing programs.
Among the numerous facilities that have recently taken to the System 5-MC is Jumbuck. Located in the heart of London’s Soho audio post district, Jumbuck specializes in audio post production for television, with an emphasis on comedy and comedy-drama. The well-known studio recently took delivery of a 16-fader System 5-MC, complete with a Euphonix StudioHub MADI router and a set of Euphonix converters.
According to Glenn Calder, dubbing mixer at Jumbuck, “We began working with Nuendo about 18 months ago, and because it’s a software-based system, you can work with it anywhere—at home, on the train, wherever. We were looking for a convenient means of bringing these projects into the studio and continuing our work with them as seamlessly as possible, and that’s precisely where the System 5-MC comes in. We found the System 5-MC was ideal for this application because Nuendo is a EuCon aware application that takes full advantage of Euphonix’ high-speed protocol for fast network access to any function. With the full size console and the flexibility of the MC, the system provides a streamlined, well integrated manner of working with Nuendo that enables us to mix with the same level of comfort and capability we’ve grown accustomed to—with the big difference being that the System 5-MC is far more adaptable than a regular console.”
Other recent installations in the UK include a 32-fader System 5-MC to legendary composer Mike Oldfield, best known for his 1973 release Tubular Bells, integrated with Logic Pro and Nuendo, and a large 56-fader System 5-MC to Total Audio Solutions, integrated with Pyramix, and used for mixing music and posting shows for UK TV.
Elsewhere throughout Europe, the Euphonix System 5-MC and MC Media Application Controller are on their way to achieving star status among the Italian pro audio community. Featuring two studios, Milan’s Vitriolo provides audio post and advertising services, and they are the first major facility in the country to use the System 5-MC—a 16-fader system that is tied to Steinberg’s Nuendo. Slovak TV in Bratislava are one of the growing number of broadcasters to take to System 5-MC for TV post work integrated with Nuendo. Slovak TV also have two Euphonix Max Air consoles for on-air applications.
In Berlin, Germany, Studio Mitte recently took delivery of a 32 fader System 5-MC for use with Steinberg’s Nuendo. The venerable facility is about to relocate to a new home, where their new integrated DAW controller will find its permanent address.
In Russia St. Petersburg’s Melnitsa studio has purchased a 32 fader System 5-MC that will be interfaced with three Pyramix systems. This transaction represents the first System 5-MC in Russia, though a System 5 digital audio console is also in use at Sound Video Image Production in the Moscow International Performance Art Center.
