Irvine MINI is Proud to Confirm, the My Marymount MINI Program Launches Fall 2016

Private University and MINI Cooper Partner to Increase College Graduation Rates
 
More than 40 percent of incoming college freshmen fail to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in six years.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, 2015 National Center for Education Statistics, the 2013 six-year graduation rate for first-time, full-time undergraduate students, who began their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree at a 4-year degree-granting institution in fall 2007, was 59 percent.

In a first-of-a-kind program, Irvine MINI and Marymount California University have created a unique incentive to encourage students to complete their bachelor’s degree in four years.
 
Marymount President Lucas Lamadrid, who proposed the original idea to MINI Cooper, wants to see more of his students completing their degrees within four years. “Starting this fall 2016, freshmen at Marymount California University can purchase a MINI Cooper from Irvine MINI at the very lowest fleet price,” says Dr. Lamadrid. “The student is responsible for the first four years of car payments, but upon graduation, the university will make the fifth and final year of payments.”
 
Lamadrid continues, “Our students will commute to and from our campuses, drive to their internships, and explore the abundance of beauty, culture, and fun that southern California has to offer. And our graduates who participate in the My Marymount MINI will have a reliable and ‘cool’ car, that’s fully paid for, to drive to their first job after college.”
 
The program is affectionately called “My Marymount MINI” and will be offered to students who are considering enrollment at Marymount California University. Student participants may select the model and color of their MINI Cooper from Irvine MINI. The university will pay up to $5,000 in payments in the fifth year of ownership. The program begins at the start of the fall 2016 semester and is available to freshmen only.
 
Steve Rudkin, General Manager of Irvine MINI, embraced the opportunity to improve college graduation rates and felt the MINI Cooper is the right vehicle for college students.
