LaCie Unveils 4TB Quadruple Interface, 4-Disk RAID for Professional-Level Data Storage, Back Up and Archiving
• Enormous storage capacity up to 4TB*
• RAID 0, 0+1 and 5 technology for speed and security
• User-friendly installation and operation
• Hot swapping and hot spare options
PORTLAND, OR (September 2007) – LaCie today unveiled the Biggest Quadra, a quadruple interface, 4-disk RAID solution for creative workstations. This cutting edge solution delivers powerful data storage protection, massive 4TB (terabyte) capacity and universal compatibility through its FireWire 800, FireWire 400, USB 2.0 and eSATA interfaces.
Thanks to high transfer rates, the Biggest Quadra is ideal for many applications including rapid storage and retrieval for audio/video and creative professionals. Perfect for quickly saving bulky files, backing up databases or working directly on the drive, the Biggest Quadra offers excellent data protection and flexibility at a reasonable price. The Biggest Quadra supports RAID levels 0, 0+1 and 5, as well as RAID 5+hot spare so that users can choose which configuration is best-suited to them based on security, speed, capacity or a combination of the three.
“Taking the best in interface and disk technology, the quiet and compact Biggest Quadra is the most universal and powerful RAID system available,” said Olivier Mirloup, LaCie Solutions Business Unit Manager. “It offers incredible capacity and speed, as well as data redundancy security to creative professionals. The Biggest Quadra is ideal for professional multi-stream audio, photo libraries, desktop publishing, video storage and backup.”
An extremely secure and high-speed solution, the Biggest Quadra offers top-notch processing potential by exploiting the power of four removable, hot-swappable and lockable hard disks in one system that can meet the needs of data storage, protection and archiving for today’s small businesses. For additional peace of mind, the Biggest Quadra reacts to drive, fan or power failure, and will even shut down if temperatures rise above 55 degrees Celsius (131 degrees Fahrenheit). Should a drive fail, insertion of a new drive automatically rebuilds data without any downtime.
The Biggest Quadra ships with professional backup and recovery software, EMC® Retrospect® Express for Mac and PC. Since the Biggest Quadra is plug and play and driver-free, setup is quick and easy.
Availability
The LaCie Biggest Quadra will be available in September for 2TB and October for the 3TB and 4TB versions. Suggested retail price will be $1099 for 2TB, $1599 for 3TB and $2199 for 4TB. Drives ship with all cables necessary for immediate use. LaCie separately offers eSATA and FireWire 800 PCI cards. For more product information, visit www.lacie.com.
